Holographic Fog Cube
Creation Matrix: A Cube Filled With Projected Space
Creation Matrix

An 8-foot cube filled with projected space. Two opposing projections enter a controlled fog matrix, building layers of floating imagery that can be watched from outside or entered and stood inside.
Challenge
Put the image inside the volume instead of on its surface. The illusion only holds if fog density, projection angles and content all cooperate, and it has to keep holding while people walk through the middle of it.
Solution
Two opposing projectors send imagery into a controlled fog matrix inside an 8-foot structure, layering light through the volume rather than onto a wall. Playback, fog and structure are tuned as one system, so the forms read in the air from outside and surround you from within.
Outcome
Audiences watch the forms shift from outside, then step through the wall of light and stand inside the image. Shown at festivals and art events across North America.

Contributions
- Built the 8-foot cube structure and its controlled fog matrix
- Aligned two opposing projections to layer imagery through the volume
- Tuned fog density and content so forms hold while people walk through
- Run playback and atmosphere as one synchronized system
