Eight projectors. One shared volume. Eight synchronized projections converge inside a fog-filled octagonal environment, building layered imagery that shifts as you circle the structure or step inside it.

Challenge

Converge eight projections into one atmospheric medium without the layers collapsing into noise. Every projector, playback channel and fog condition has to stay synchronized, and the imagery has to resolve from every angle, including from the middle of the volume.

Solution

Eight synchronized projectors surround a specially built octagonal structure and aim into a shared fog volume. Playback, projection geometry and fog conditions operate as one synchronized system, so layered forms hold together whether the audience walks the perimeter or stands inside the intersecting light.

Outcome

Our most surrounding work so far: a chamber of intersecting light where the image is everywhere you look, and where you can walk in and stand inside it. Shown at festivals and events across North America.
