A 25-foot halo suspended between sculpture and screen. From across a festival field, Space Donut reads as a glowing ring hanging in the night. Up close, the open centre fills with mist and projected imagery: colour, movement and abstract forms that appear to float in the air.

Challenge

Make imagery float in open air, at festival scale. The piece has to read as a landmark from across a field, hold up from a few feet away, and run all night outdoors: mist has to be shaped and sustained, projection has to stay bright against the dark, and the whole structure has to travel.

Solution

A 25-foot custom-fabricated ring carries a suspended mist canvas, high-output projection and a bright LED system built into the inner ring. Projection and lighting are synchronized into one show, so the sculpture itself changes with the media. Fog distribution, playback and light run as a single system, built for indoor and outdoor festival-scale deployment.

Outcome

A landmark and a gathering point after dark: visible across a field, it pulls people toward it and holds them in the glow. Shown at festivals and art events across North America.
