The Void: An Image Emerging From Empty Space

The Void

Projection without a visible screen. A controlled fog environment conceals the projection medium itself, so synchronized imagery appears to form in open air: a vast, otherworldly field of floating light.

Challenge

Remove the frame. The moment an audience can see the screen, the spell breaks. The Void has to conceal its own mechanics while keeping the atmosphere dense enough to catch light and open enough to feel endless.

Solution

Fog enters the environment in a controlled direction while the projection infrastructure stays concealed. The work tunes atmospheric density, flow direction, projection angles and synchronized media until the fog reads less like a screen and more like a suspended field of imagery.

Outcome

Viewers stand at the edge of what looks like a luminous abyss: imagery with no visible source, forming and dissolving in the air in front of them. Shown at festivals and art events across North America.
